Smoothies are easy to make, delicious, nutritious and a great way to increase your fruits and vegetables intake. Additionally, smoothies are excellent snacks. A high protein smoothie is a great post workout healthy treat. Below I will share three healthy smoothie recipes that are simple and easy to make and will provide you with great health benefits.

1.     Mango Banana Berry Smoothie

This fruit smoothie is packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Mango is a tropical sweet-smelling fruit that is not only nutritious but is also low in calories. The vitamin C content of mango makes it helpful in improving immunity. Also, mango can help with digestion, improve eyesight and lower the risk of certain cancers. Banana is considered one of the most popular fruits in the world. It is rich in fiber and antioxidants and can help to improve digestion, promotes heart health, as well as aid in weight loss. Berries are great source of antioxidants as well. They help reduce free radicals in the body.

Ingredients:

1 cup freshly slice or frozen mango
1 ripe banana (fresh or frozen)
1 cup berry (fresh or frozen, your choice of berry or combination of berries)
1 cup milk (your choice of milk. You can also use coconut water or the combination of both)
1 cup ice (if you use fresh fruits)
*Blend until smooth

2.     Green Smoothie

This green smoothie is rich in fiber, folate, calcium, vitamins and good fats. It contains spinach, banana, pineapple, avocado and coconut water. This smoothie is delicious and healthy and provides your body with not only the health benefits of eating your fruits and vegetables, but also provides hydration from the coconut water. Spinach is considered the most nutritious vegetable. The green leafy vegetable is low in calories, but high in vitamins and minerals. The antioxidants in spinach promotes overall eye health by protecting the eyes from UV light damage.

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh spinach
½ to 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or frozen)
½ to 1 banana (fresh or frozen)
½ avocado
1 cup of coconut water
1 cup ice (if you use fresh fruits)
*Blend until smooth

3.     Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie

This protein rich smoothie is a great way to increase your protein intake. The combination of these ingredients, will not only gives you a tasty smoothie, but it is also a nutrients rich post workout healthy snack. Its high protein content will help with recovery by repairing your muscles and getting you ready for your next workout session.

Ingredients:

1 banana
3 tablespoons peanut butter
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 scoop of whey protein
½ cup coconut water
1 cup ice
*Blend until smooth
