A small dose of stress can be good for motivating us to perform well. However, long term stress can have an adverse effect on our health and overall quality of life. High levels of stress can have physical and emotional negative impacts. Stress comes in various forms. It can be work related, relational, financial, personal loss and more. Stress is a common situation that we cannot avoid. Therefore, I have outlined 3 important reasons to manage stress, as well as to help you maintain a happy, healthy and productive life.
Health
Longer term stress is bad for our health and can lead to various health problems. Research shows that chronic stress can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases and even obesity. Stress can even cause us to have headaches, feeling of fatigue, memory laps, low or lack of energy, problem sleeping and even body aches and pains.
To manage the effects of stress and take control of our health and emotion, we have to identify the stressors in our lives and create strategies to help you reduce their effects. Some of the things we can do to manage stress include exercise, meditation, positive self-talk, listen to music and remove ourselves from sources that cause us to feel stress.
Productivity
As mentioned above, a small dose of stress can be good and can motivates you to perform well. Adversely, chronic stress can stress can undermine performance and reduce productivity. When we are overly stressed, depression, lack of energy and demotivation can set in causing us to preform below our capabilities. By managing stressors and maintaining an energetic and positive spirit, we will be able to maintain our productivity in all levels of our lives.
Happiness
Stress can be emotionally disturbing. It can cause us to be frustrated, irritable and unhappy. With every situation we encounter, we must find strategies to deal with them to avoid falling into emotion lows. Being happy is important not only for our emotional well-being, but also for our health and productivity. By being able to manage stress utilizing effective coping strategies, we will life healthier and happier lives.

Remember, a small dose of stress can be good, but we should avoid long term stress, as it can adversely affect our health and well-being, reduce our productivity, as well as lead to unhappiness.
