‘Tis the season for preparing and eating special holidays and traditional meals and deserts. This is also a season to celebrate and spend quality time with loved ones and friends. Yes, I know, this holiday season is different, due to the current pandemic, but it will not stop the celebration and festivities. Thanks to technology, we can virtually connect and celebrate this special season with our loved ones and friends regardless of where in the world they are located.
So, while we enjoy the festivities of the season, let us practice these seven tips to keep us fit and healthy as we enter the year.
Stick to a Workout Routine
With all the preparation, gift buying and decorations that are a part of the holiday spirit, it is easy to skip workouts. To avoid missing your workouts, create a daily fitness schedule and stick with it. Plan in advance when you will workout and the content of each workout session. This will help you to stay motivated and consistent. Exercise had also shown to reduce emotional exhaustion and boost self-confidence.
Eat Mindfully
Pay attention to what you are eating, consider the portion of your meals and also the frequent in which you are eating. Avoid over eating by aiming to consume three meals per day and two or three snacks. Stay Hydrated
With all the special drinks, cocktail options and delightful meals, water consumption can easily become limited. To stay hydrated, make a mindfully effort to always have glass or bottle of water nearby for regular sipping.

While life is not without stress, we can to make a conscious effort to regulate how we handle stressful events and strive to minimize the effect it can have on our wellbeing. So, the goal should be to eliminate long-term stress, which can cause tension and lead to depression, fatigue, headaches, lack of motivation, irritability and the likes.
Dispel Negative Thoughts
Hold yourself accountable. When negative thoughts or feelings emerge, dispel them. Don’t verbalize negative thoughts and feelings or accept negativity from others. A negative mindset or environment can be toxic and hamper your performance and your ability to live a happy life. Practice positivity and speak life over your circumstances. If you have a setback or disappointment, look for the good ways in which you can improve your situations.
Get Enough Sleep and Take Time for Relaxation
Make sure are getting the recommended eight hours of sleep or more each night. Set a specific time that you will retire to bed and hold firm to it. Adequate sleep is an effective way to stay fit and healthy and help maintain your energy level. Also, make time to pause from your busy schedule to do something relaxing and enjoyable. This could be as simple as reading a few chapters from a book or taking a 20 minutes nap.
Boost your Immune System
Your immune system is your defense against illnesses and diseases. Therefore, it is important to keep it balance. Consume foods and vegetables that are rich in vitamin c, probiotics and antioxidants, which will provide a boost to your immune system. Adequate sleep, mediation, and exercise also play great roles in immune health.
